What do we strive to offer the children who participate in the Religious Education Program at St. John the Evangelist? We offer a variety of learning experiences to encourage each child:
to encounter Jesus and to recognize God at work in her/his life
to grow in her/his understanding of the precepts of our catholic faith
to develop an appreciation for our traditions and prayers
to express their faith through acts of generosity and kindness
to experience faith in community through prayer, worship, and service
In short, we do our best to share the wealth of our faith and tradition through a well-coordinated curriculum which is approved by the USCCB. Our catechists are dedicated volunteers who are trained and certified to teach by the Diocese of Lansing. Religious education classes are offered to parish children ages three through grade six. (For information pertaining to youth in grades seven through twelve please click on the youth ministry tab in the sidebar.)
Classes are held in the St. John School building from September through March. Children of all abilities are welcome. Please refer to this year's calendar for class days and times.
